Classic Touch: Group Show featuring Jane Dipaolo
October 9, 2010
Ceramicist Jane Dipaolo is featured October 9 at Winter Street Studios.
Anyone else may see clay and slush, a hot room with a glowing kiln, but when Jane Dipaolo enters her studio, she sees the tools to create classics. This Houston artist has an eye for style, quality and fashion. She creates sculptures that are as distinctive, timeless and fun as that Chanel dress she just covered up with a smock.
Classic Touch, a group show featuring Jane Dipaolo’s latest ceramics, will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday, October 9 at Winter Street Studios, 2101 Winter Street, in the 2nd floor gallery. The event is open to the public without charge.
Dipaolo asked some of her favorite local artists to hang on the walls surrounding her sculptures, including Justin Garcia, Matt Messinger and Lindsay Peyton. Musician Alan Hawkins will also join to provide classical guitar accompaniment for the evening.
Dipaolo was born in Philadelphia and majored in art at Rowan University in New Jersey. She currently teaches art and ceramics at the Kinkaid School in Houston.
“I’m inspired by the journeys people take in their lives, the events that happen both big and small, and the unique characters you meet along the way,” she said.
