Houston Metropolitan Dance Company (Houston Met Dance) celebrates its 15th Anniversary Season showcasing audience favorites from their repertoire and premiering new works set on the company by boundary-breaking choreographers in local, regional and national performances.

On April 15, 2011 at 8PM Cullen Theatre, Wortham Center, Houston Met Dance will celebrate their 15th Anniversary Season with 15 on the 15th, showcasing the 15 professional dancers that comprise this diverse company. The evening will highlight three works from the company’s compelling repertoire: Cinco-Sin Nombre by Paola Georgudis, Consumed by Kate Skarpetowska and a re-staging of Joe Celej’s ForeverFleeting.

Houston Met Dance will premiere new works by Resident Choreographer Kiki Lucas, Spencer Gavin Hering, Founding Artistic Director of infinite Movement Ever Evolving, and choreographer Jason Parsons.

The 15th Anniversary Season includes the opportunity to see the company for free as well as in different parts of the country. Houston Met Dance presents their engaging and interactive dance program, Swing, Jive and Pop into Dance on September 14 and October 27, 11AM, FREE at Miller Outdoor Theatre. In October they will perform their Dance Gallery Festival at Sam Houston State University, Huntsville, Texas on October 8-9 at 8PM and then on October 15-16 at 7:30PM at the Ailey Citigroup Theatre in NYC. They will present in January 2011 at the Association of Performing Arts Presenters Conference (APAP); and will be in residence at Acadiana Center for the Performing Arts in Lafayette, Louisiana, on February 8-12, 2011.

Founded in 1995, Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, familiarly known as "Houston Met Dance", embraces a comprehensive dance style that fuses the dance idioms of contemporary dance, jazz, tap and ballet. The company is committed to commissioning new works by internationally renowned and emerging choreographers as well as nurturing the creative talent from within the company.
