Aurora Picture Show presents Times II: Curated by Stephan Hillerbrand, Friday, October 8, at 7PM. Location: Barnevelder Movement Complex, 2201 Preston.

Aurora is proud to showcase the second screening of work by University of Houston School of Art students and alumni this fall in a screening titled Times II. Curated by School of Art faculty, Stephan Hillerbrand, the program will examine the expanded definition of what we see as time-based work. This includes single channel video, sound works, performance, live cinema and VJ'ing from alumni and current undergraduate and graduate School of Art students.

Stephan Hillerbrand is a video artist and collaborates with Aurora's curator, Mary Magsamen. He is an Assistant Professor in the Digital Media Program at the University of Houston. Hillerbrand is a Fulbright Fellow, MacDowell Colony Fellow and recipient of grants from Art Matters, National Endowment on the Arts, Ohio Arts Council and Houston Arts Alliance.

Pictured:  Detail of a still from Transcendental Smoothie, Installation, Standered Definition Video with Sound, Duration: Variable. Loop., 6 Channel Video Projection, Aspect Ratio 4:3, 2 Ch Stereo.  Transcendental Smoothie is a 6 channel video installation by the collaborative husband and wife team of Hillerbrand+Magsamen. Using balloons as an alternative material to project into, onto and around, the image transforms into mesmerizing spheres of personal and psychological interaction that transform the videos into a sculptural space.
