    Intersection New Music Collective and the University of Houston - Moores School of Music present Geography comes to an end – Music and Place, Monday, October 18. A Free Concert in University of Houston - Dudley Recital Hall.

    An evening of contemporary chamber music by young composers in the Houston area with world premieres and Houston premieres.   Featuring the Intersection New Music Collective performing music of Stephen Yip, B. P. Herrington, Jerry Hui, and Kyle Kindred.

    Stephen Yip (Hong Kong-born American composer). "... “a ritualistic sequence of gestures, conjuring calm meditation, frenetic enlightenment and eventual repose." - New York Times. Winner of Debussy Trio Music Foundation, Haifa International Composition Competition, and ALEA III Composition Competition. www.stephen-yip.com.

    B. P. Herrington (Texas-born composer). “Three works were given their first performances. By far the most individual was B. P. Herrington's Symphonia, which put aural memories of the composer's Texas childhood through the mincer.” - London Times. Winner of Royal Philharmonic Society Composition Prize, ASCAP Morton Gould Award and Leo Kaplan Prize, and the First Music Award. www.herringtonmusic.com.

    Jerry Hui (Hong Kong-born American composer). Winner of 2008 Robert Helps Prize and the University of Wisconsin-Madison Concerto Competition (twice). Founding director of the Eugene Contemporary Chamber Ensemble and Eliza’s Toyes, a new early music group in Madison, Wisconsin.  www.musiquenouvelle.com.

    Kyle Kindred (Kansas-born). His works have been performed by the US Navy Band, the US 323rd Army Band, the St. Louis Wind Symphony, the University of Michigan Concert Band, and the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Wind Ensemble.  His music has been featured at the International Double Reed Society Convention, the World Saxophone Congress.  www.kylekindred.com.
