The B-52s return to The Grand 1894 Opera House for one high-energy performance on Thursday, November 11, at 7:30pm.

Performing such hits as “Rock Lobster”, “Love Shack”, and “Deadbeat Club,” the award-winning musical group - comprised of Keith Strickland, Cindy Wilson, Fred Schneider, and Kate Pierson - is a stand-on-your-feet, dance in the aisles, rock and roll event you won’t want to miss!

Taking their name from the “Southern slang for the mile-high bouffant wigs” that singers Kate Pierson and Cindy Wilson wore, The B-52s return to The Grand’s stage featuring songs from Funplex (2008), a slick, synthesizer-driven collection produced by Steve Osborne and the first record of the 21st century from the B-52s! "It's loud, sexy rock and roll, with the beat pumped up to hot pink," says guitarist Keith Strickland. There are eleven fresh songs, crafted by the groundbreaking band that put Athens, GA on the musical map in the late '70s, and conquered the world with its savvy hooks, unconventional approach to music-making and original style.

Originally formed in the mid-70s, The B-52s issued their self-titled debut album: “A collection of manic, bizarre, and eminently danceable songs” in 1979 which scored an underground club hit with a reworked version of “Rock Lobster.” The following year, they issued Wild Planet, which reached the Top 20 on the U.S. album charts; Party Mix!, an EP's worth of reworked material from the band's first two proper outings, appeared in 1981. The 80’s proved to be a decade of transition and regrouping, and it was not until 1989, when The B-52s finally returned with Cosmic Thing – their most commercially successful endeavor to date.

Tickets go on sale Friday, October 1st and prices range from $18.50 to $88. Call for pricing on Box Seats. Special discounts for group and senior tickets may be available.
