For University of Houston art students, there is no better way to close the semester than to share their works with the community. That’s exactly what they will do Dec. 4 – 18 during the 2010 School of Art Annual Student Exhibition at UH’s Blaffer Art Museum. More than 90 student artists from the UH School of Art will participate in this event, which has become increasingly popular with Houstonians. Each year, this annual event attracts more than 1,000 visitors to Blaffer Art Museum.

Works will include paintings, sculpture, graphic design, photography and digital media. Also included will be projects from the school’s new interdisciplinary practice and emerging forms program. Artists are senior bachelor of fine arts and non-graduating master of fine arts students from the School of Art.

“This show has a lot of variety. It’s very energetic and fresh,” said John Reed, director of the UH School of Art. “This is our chance to open a window and let members of the community see what we do. It is a popular event for the school and the museum.”

A free opening reception sponsored by KUHF 88.7 FM and Real Ale Brewing Company is scheduled for Dec. 3. Live music will provided by the Invincible Czars.

The 2010 School of Art Annual Student Exhibition is made possible through the generosity of the University of Houston’s Student Fees Advisory Committee.
