Betz Art Gallery presents The Event: Models, Masques, and Multiples, opening on Saturday, Nov. 27.  The exhibition features collaboration between John Palmer and Randall Jobe.

As November ushers in the holiday season, come to Betz Art Gallery to take a visual journey through The Event; Models, Masques, and Multiples. This exhibition features the works of Houston artists Randall Jobe and John Ross Palmer. This collaboration showcases two very distinct styles fused together to create a one-of-a-kind experience.

A Houston art icon himself, Ross Palmer began painting in 1998 after the tragic death of his father and used art as therapy for his healing. In 12 years, John established a career which includes being recently honored by the Nave Museum, publishing three art books and being the subject of two others, being represented in high-end galleries around the world and being selected as "Artist of the Year" by The Museum of Cultural Arts Houston.

"I call my style of work Escapism," Palmer says. "It is created and seeks to assist both me and the collector to leave behind life?s challenges, to enjoy the now and rejoice in the blessings you have. I want the viewer to get lost in my art - just as I do. Escapism is not only my art style, it is also the name given to my life mission of destroying the stereotype of the struggling artist. Through talent and hard work, artists can thrive and achieve financial success. My father, his entire life, struggled. In the aftermath of his death, I made a personal vow. I would never struggle."

Randall Jobe introduces new whimsical images of his trademark "Divas" and mixed media originals. Approaching his work with a sense of theatricality, Jobe combines flamboyant persona with costumed attire and often literally draws beyond the confines of the matted images. Numerous gallery shows, exhibits and donations to fundraising events have established his unique style.

Jobe has always had a love of drawing. His works have shown at Eastman Gallery in Houston, Texas and numerous times at JR's Bar & Grill where he works as director of promotions and special events. In addition to supporting the Osito Foundation, Jobe has donated art to many charitable events including AIDS Foundation Houston, SPA, BCBC and the CAII Employee Emergency Fund.
