Inman Gallery presents the exhibition Yuko Murata: Coconut tree and deer, on view in the Main Gallery, October 29, 2010 - January 8, 2011.

Inman Gallery celebrates their 20th anniversary and welcomes Yuko Murata to Houston for her second exhibition at the gallery. Murata's exhibition Coconut tree and deer consists of small oil paintings of spare landscapes or solitary animals painted in a muted palette. Focusing on deceptively simple subject matter and execution, Murata's rich expressive brushwork animates her work.

Yuko Murata was born in Kangawa, Japan and studied at the Tokyo Art School, Setsu Mode Seminar, graduating in 1995. Recent solo exhibitions include: “the Songs of Birds,” Lammfromm, Tokyo, Japan and “Ikejiri Institute of Design”, curated by Hideo Nakayasu, Tokyo. Since 2002, she has exhibited in Tokyo at Gallery Side 2. Group exhibitions include “New and Rising Artists 2007”, curated by Norimasa Nishimatsu, at the Pola Museum Annex, Tokyo in 2007, and in 2006, "Dirty Yoga", curated by Dan Cameron, Taipei Biennial, Taipei Fine Arts Museum.

And on view November 6, 2010 - January 8, 2011 at INMAN Annex, 3917 Main St, Weasel, including work by: Maurizio Cattelan, Mads Lynnerup, Eva and Franco Mattes aka 0100101110101101.ORG, Jim Nolan, Brina Thurston, Karla Wozniak, Joe Zane. Weasel is organized by Chelsea Beck and Kurt Mueller.

Also on view November 6th, 2010 - January 8, 2011 in the north gallery,  Sigrid Sandström video screenings - we will be screening three different videos by artist Sigrid Sandström over the nex two months.
