The Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts (MECA) presents Music from Heaven; A Shepherd's Play - La Musica del Cielo; Una Pastorela; a National Performance Network Residency, Written and Directed by Peter Webster. December 17 and 18, 2010.

Since the early days of Christianity in Spain and England, pastorelas or shepherd’s plays have depicted the long trek of those first pastores to the holy site of the Nativity. Franciscan missionaries brought the pastorela to Mexico in the sixteenth century and this ancient folk.

MECA welcomes back Peter Webster to set and direct his original play Music from Heaven; A Shepherd's Play - La Musica del Cielo; Una Pastorela. Music from Heaven, the battle between good and bad, waged with song, dance, and joy. This Christmas Shepherd's Play, a centuries-old Mexican tradition, is performed by the award-winning Mariachi MECA, MECA Ballet Folklorico, actors, children, angels, devils, and dancing sheep. Boo the devils, cheer the shepherds, celebrate life!

Music Director: Estevan Azcona, Ph. D.
