Discovery Green presents Red Bull Illume, on view January 7-17, 2011, 6p.m. - 10p.m., nightly. The Red Bull Illume Exhibit Tour is now going stateside to the great US of A! The world's greatest collection of action and adventure sports photography will illuminate Houston, Texas in January 2011.

Red Bull Illume is a photography contest and exhibition dedicated to finding and celebrating the world's most outstanding and premium adventure sports images. The winners are chosen by an international jury of experts. By illuminating the passion, thrilling lifestyle and culture behind the winning shots, we honor the photographers who brave the world's harshest terrains to take them. Photography categories include culture, playground, energy, spirit, close up, wings, sequence, new creativity, experimental and illumination.

The 50 selected photos come to life each night via state of the art, large-scale, back-lit screens.

"Red Bull Illume is such an amazing event," says the winner of this year’s contest Chris Burkard (USA). "The photos look completely surreal illuminated and printed so big. I feel honored to have been a part of it."

Red Bull Illume is arguably the world’s greatest collection of action and adventure sports photography. Red Bull Illume is proud to announce the public opening for their new photography exhibit: Red Bull Illume on Friday, January 7th 6-10 P.M. featuring X-Games Champion and skateboarder Ryan Shekler! Red Bull Illume is an exhibition of some of the world's most incredible adventure sports photography. Originally debuting in Dublin, Ireland, Red Bull Illume will be making its US debut in Houston from January 7th-17th, 2011 at Discovery Green, 6-10pm each evening. Out of the 22,764 images submitted, 50 photographs were selected combining photographs in BMX, skateboarding, surfing, B.A.S.E jumping, motor sports, climbing and winter sports.
