    Featuring:
Dr. Gilbert Cote, PhD / (pictured) Geneticist
Dr. Nancy Bailey, PhD / Musicologist

Geneticist Dr. Gilbert Cote has some insight about genetic disorders that cause conditions which, in the past, have led to the creation of mythological creatures. Musicologist Dr. Nancy Bailey will educate about these figures and their evolution throughout music and literary history.

Music selections will include songs from Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder, Wagner’s Ring, and will feature members of the Houston Symphony, including Anne Leek, Oboe, Judith Dines, Flute, and Adam Dinitz, English Horn. Divas World artists performing during the evening include: Sonja Bruzauskas and Rodney Waters. Divas World artists performing during the evening include: Sonja Bruzauskas and Rodney Waters.

Experience the unique energy our Divas Salons have to offer – the excitement of a live performance and the thought-provoking stimulation of artist-audience discussions. We know you’ll walk away feeling inspired!

Our Divas Salon series revives the traditional European-style salons, which has been popular for many centuries. Each salon consists of a concert with music surrounding the specific theme, a lecture, and a discussion following the intermission. Our salon evenings have explored Venice, women composers, roses, cabaret, myths & legends, folk tales, visual music, medicine and music, and Texas composers. In the Song Salon series, we seek to unearth the connections that exist between different art forms, musical styles, and our individual modern experience. Embracing all five senses, the evenings create grounds for high stimulation and profound inspiration.

To add to the excitement of our 2010-2011 season, many of our Divas Salon concerts will be recorded for national broadcast on public radio, and you are invited to be a part of the excitement and unique behind-the-scenes action during the making of a national radio show.

All Divas Salon concerts are free and open to the public; however, seating is limited and is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information about our Divas Salon series, contact us or call 713-524-2854.
