The Jung Center of Houston presents Nourishing the Soul in the Wild Heart of Nature. In this lecture by psychotherapist Jyl Scott-Reagan, discover how we can restore our lost, necessary connection to nature. Thursday, March 31, 6 - 7:30 pm.

Do you remember being a child, chasing fireflies, your feet in damp grass on a summer night? That knowing is still with you. What happens to you now as an adult, when you travel beyond the city lights and notice how different the stars seem to you? How close do you feel to something larger than yourself?

Modern life gives us many gifts. Through technology, we are more connected with each other than ever before. Yet we are less intimate with the natural world. Our culture's focus on consumption and speed only deepens anxieties. The antidote is not to romanticize nature, but to acknowledge that we are a part of her. Beyond awe and comfort, nature helps us grow.

Jyl Scott-Reagan, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, is a practicing psychotherapist with 25 years of experience. She has a master's degree in clinical social work. She also holds a master's degree in urban affairs with an emphasis on environmental concerns. She currently leads outdoor psychospiritual retreats. She has presented workshops for mental health professionals on ecopsychology, including "Deeper Ethics: Nature and the Self of the Therapist."
