The Jung Center of Houston presents The Challenges of Difference. In this lecture, religious scholar Jill Carroll (pictured) offers compelling visions for the necessity—and the real possibility—of transcending our differences. Thursday, April 7, 6 - 7:30 pm.

Life in the 21st century global reality requires new capacities and adaptations. Specifically, people are challenged to expand themselves further than before on issues of difference - tolerating, dealing with and living among others who may be profoundly different from them in fundamental ways. How is this possible? How can peaceful coexistence be achieved?

Jill Carroll, PhD, is an adjunct associate professor in religious studies at Rice University where she also directed the Boniuk Center for Religious Tolerance for five years. She writes a featured blog for the Houston Chronicle called "Talking Tolerance" and is the creator and founding director of the Amazing Faiths Project (www.amazingfaithsproject.org ).

She is the author of The Savage Side: Reclaiming Violent Models of God and A Dialogue of Civilizations: Gulen's Islamic Ideals and Humanistic Discourse.
