The Rothko Chapel presents Twilight (Rothko Chapel) - Rolf Julius, Tuesday, March 15, 5pm.

Rolf Julius is an internationally acclaimed pioneer in electronic music and “sound art.” For the past 30 years Julius has created some of the most meaningful and moving works in the grey area between music and art, between sound and silence.

Now in his seventies, he is considered one of the most important and pioneering sound artists of his time—alongside Takehisa Kosugi, Terry Fox, and Akio Suzuki. His is a unique approach to minimalist music—with a careful insight and sensitivity on how his art interacts with the environment it exists in—he speaks of an Asian sensibility and Zen-like spirituality.

For the Rothko Chapel, Rolf Julius will create an original composition intended to correspond with twilight. He will weave electronic, minimalist sound designs into a meditative experience that incorporates the shifting light and shadows in the Chapel.
