Dionysus Opens 2011 with Laughter and Songs. Promising to usher in the New Year’s resolution of “laugh more, love more”, Dionysus Theatre will open January with Christopher Durang’s The Actors Nightmare in Act 1 and We Are People Too, in Act 2.

The Actors Nightmare in Act 1 - An innocent audience member (George Spelvin) wanders on stage only to find himself involved with 3 shows, without knowing the lines or the plays he got himself involved with. But, in the end, he realizes that “all the world’s a stage”.

“This is really a metaphor for all of us.” Says Artistic Director, Deborah Nowinski, “every day we wake up to new opportunities, or challenges. It’s all how we play the part in life.”

Act 2, Dionysus features the singing soulful sounds of We Are People Too. This choir is composed of those who may be visually or legally blind. Dionysus promises it will inspire and empower all in this new year. “We are so honored to showcase those with talent in Houston. Many don’t get the chance to connect creatively, that is why Dionysus is here.”
