The Menil Collection presents another in its Gallery Talk The Artist's Eye series.  Throughout the year, on the first Sunday of each month (except talks held on the second Sunday of April and July, due to the Easter and Independence Day holidays), a Houston artist talks about a work in the Menil Collection that has special meaning to him or her. The public is invited to these free, informal gallery discussions, which can be held in any Menil gallery or building (or outdoor space) of the artist’s choosing, begin at 3 p.m.

Jonathan C. Leach on Kurt Schwitters

The hard line geometries of Jonathan C. Leach (pictured) conjure memories of our manufactured world – billboards, parking lots, and telephone polls. Having moved from his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky in 1994 to attend The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Leach was influenced by the city's dynamic landscape. He realized the impact of commercial saturation and architectural forms on his daily experience and sought to convey his impressions in his paintings.

In 2007, he moved to Houston, where the impact of industry on the city's environment continues to inspire him.
