Jung Center of Houston presents Stress Relief: Embracing Life, Breath and Movement, Saturday, February 5 from 9am to 12noon. Join us for this special FREE workshop in which Jung Center instructors address the problem of stress and how to relieve it.

Take time out to learn about stress and ways to find relief. Many of us lead lives more stressful than we even acknowledge or realize. We can improve the quality of our lives by learning about stress and finding methods for relieving it that work for us.

In this workshop, Jung Center instructors will discuss stress and how their different disciplines address it. Participants will learn about the different classes at The Jung Center that can help relieve stress - and have useful experiential activities to take home with them.

The morning will begin with a talk on psychological types and the need for different paths based on typology by Jerry Ruhl—and will proceed through demonstrations of different activities that can relieve stress, including active imagination (Jerry Ruhl), tai chi (George Ling Hu), yoga (Leah Harlig), Feldenkrais (MaryBeth Smith), and meditation (Stan Merrill).

Leah Harlig is a four-time breast cancer survivor who discovered yoga's recuperative powers during treatment. Initially drawn to its restorative qualities, her practice expanded as she grew stronger. Leah continues to develop herself working with Robert Boustany, Julie Byrd and Amy Garratt.

George Ling Hu, a master in Tai Chi Chuan, is a member of the Chinese Tai Chi Chuan Association, the National Kuo Shu Association of Taiwan, and the Taiwan Yoga Association. In addition, Master Hu completed his graduate studies in geology and mineralogy, and teaches Chi Kung and Internal style martial arts in Houston.

Stanley Merrill has studied Buddhist philosophy and meditation for 15 years. He has completed the Dharma Apprenticeship Program (DAP) with Anam Thubten Rinpoche, founder and head teacher of the Dharmata Foundation, as well as a class preparing individuals to teach "Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction," taught by Jon Kabat-Zinn through the University of Massachusettes Medical School.

Jerry M. Ruhl, PhD, is an author, psychologist, and executive director of The Jung Center. With Robert A. Johnson, he is the co-author of Living Your Unlived Life (2007). He is a faculty member for the Jungian studies program at Saybrook University.

MaryBeth Smith, MM, GCFP, is Director of the Feldenkrais® Center of Houston. With more than 20 years of teaching experience in university and community settings, she now uses the Feldenkrais Method ® to help people improve their self-image, function, and enjoyment in movement and in life.
