Shrimp Boat Projects is a year-long interdisciplinary Mitchell Center residency focused on the Gulf Coast shrimp industry of Galveston Bay, viewed as both a profession and a way of life. This residency will take place aboard a working shrimp boat, and will be directed by artist and scholar Zach Moser and architect Eric Leshinsky.

Not only does a boat have access to all aspects of the region from the coastal marshes and major cities to the offshore oil rigs and reefs, but a shrimp boat in particular is a potent yet largely unacknowledged nexus between a range of internationally prominent socio-economic themes including globalization, tourism, environmental awareness, immigration and human labor.
