The Contemporary Arts Museum Houston presents a Concert: Texas Noise and Ambient Environment #1, THURSDAY, January 13 at 6:30PM.

    Texas Noise and Ambient Environment
is an ongoing concert series curated by Markus Cone and Ian Travis that spotlights the works of Ambient, Drone, and Noise based musicians currently located and performing in the state of Texas. Through the use of acoustic instruments, auxiliary percussion, electronics, and devices, the musicians in the series strive to create sound collages and musical environments challenging the listener's notion of active and passive listening.

Tonight's performance is curated by Chin Xaou Ti Won, (pictured) a Houston-based audio project specializing in ambient sound structures and avant-garde grade synth-pop infused with a stylistic approach to contemporary classical music.

    ABOUT CHIN XAOU TI WON
Chin Xaou Ti Won's sound draws heavily on '80s new wave, anime-pop/video game music and 20th century minimalism. Musicians Markus Cone and Ian Travis use a myriad of synthesizers, electronics, processing devices and computer hardware/software while organically embedding layers of live percussion and found sound, creating a unique atmosphere uncommon to music typically attributed to the electronic sub-genre. Commonly referred to as film music, CXTW's sound is built around the notion of focal melodies as a musical core, from the simplistic, yet catchy, to the lush and contemplative.
