Ovations presents LOVE THROUGH THE (ST)AGES,  a cabaret evening featuring Glennie Scott (picured).  Sunday, Feb. 13, at 5:00 p.m.

Celebrate an early Valentine's Day with Glennie, plus Kathleen Knight, and Jerry Roberts and a group of songs that portray "LOVE THROUGH THE (ST)AGES".  The show includes such favorites as "My Funny Valentine" (of course), "Our Love Is Here to Stay," "A Time for Love," "Wonderful Guy" and many more great songs about seeking love, finding it, losing it, and finding love anew ... all the many stages of love through the ages.

Glennie Scott has performed nationally in San Francisco, Chicago, Philadelphia, Plantation Key, and internationally in Sweden and Norway. She began playing piano and studying just prior to her 4th birthday. Before beginning her career as a pianist/singer/entertainer, she attended Rice University, transferring to Centenary College of Louisiana where she received her BA with a major in piano performance and music theory. While at Centenary, she sang with the famed Centenary College Choir, as well as played flute with the Centenary Band and with the Shreveport Symphony. She subsequently received her Master’s of Liberal Arts from Houston Baptist University in 1998.

She studied voice for 12 years with Michael Lawrence in Houston. She has acted as musical director for several theater productions, including an original show entitled “Winners,” created in Houston by Charles Strouse (of “Annie” fame) for Theater on Wheels. She has worked with Houston Community College on several projects including “The King and I” and “And the World Goes Round.” She had her debut as an integral part of a cast at the Hobby Center in 2004 as Lorraine, the pianist, in “70 Girls 70.”

She presently teaches voice and piano to private students and creates special events for private or corporate clients as well as presenting cabaret evenings at Ovations in Rice Village with other local talent such as Kathleen Knight, Jerry Roberts, Aike Jamal, Barbara Johnson, Steve Riley, Craig Ryan, Tom McKinney, Tony Pryor, Patti Barnes, Marsha Carlton, Judy England, Leah Stonum, and instrumentalists Jim Black, Mikael Sundin, Matt Kirkland, Howard Hendricks and many others.

Working as Keyboard Artist at Terrace United Methodist Church for more than 8 years (during which time she was acting Music Director intermittently), she planned and oversaw two different Christmas Cantata performances, incorporating the Chancel Choir, additional instrumentalists, soloists and visual arts personnel. In 2000 she created and acted as Musical Director for a stage production “Circles of Love,” with Tom McKinney as Director. She was bell choir director and helped plan two co-joined concerts with the bell choirs of Fairhaven Methodist Church, and participated in the Praise Team for Contemporary Worship at Terrace. She now is keyboardist/singer for the Contemporary Worship at St. Luke’s Methodist Church with Faith Ayers as the Director of Contemporary Worship.
