Travesty Dance Group presents Framing Dance, Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at 7:30pm, in Zilkha Hall, Hobby Center for Performing Arts.

"What does it mean?" Framing Dance addresses this question in contemporary dance by giving audience tools on viewing dance and aesthetics from the inside. The program takes the audience on a journey from narrative in dance to abstract dance. The evening includes projections, performances by the company, a lecture component with Director Karen Stokes, and an audience participation component. Audience members will be encouraged to ask questions, as well as state observations.

This is the second time that Framing Dance has been performed for the general public since it's premiere in 2007. Since 2007, a student version of Framing Dance has been offered annually as a Discovery Series program at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts. This year for the first time, our six student performances this February are fully booked (3000 students).

The evening performance on February 2nd is adult oriented but remains family friendly. We will also be introducing former Liz Lerman Dance Exchange dancer Robbie Cook in his first performance in Houston.
