Houston Family Arts Center (HFAC) announced today that Dave Clemmons, (pictured) a renowned Broadway Actor and Casting Director, will be teaching two 3-hour audition workshops on January 22, 2011, at Houston Family Arts Center!

Dave is the founder of Clemmons/Dewing Casting which has cast numerous Broadway shows including The Boy From Oz, Ring of Fire, In My Life, Dracula, The Civil War, Brooklyn, Cinderella starring Eartha Kitt and Jamie Lynn Sigler; Off-Broadway shows including Bare, Bat Boy, Altar Boyz, Zanna Don't!, Dear Edwina, the 2000 revival of Godspell and the National Tours of Cinderella, Evita, Millie, Cats, Fosse, Jekyll & Hyde, Chicago, Joseph..., Jesus Christ Superstar, Fiddler on the Roof, The Wizard of Oz, 101 Dalmatians, Saturday Night Fever, and Movin' Out.

Each three-hour intensive session will include:

    • • Q and A on audition preparation. This portion of the workshop will focus on all aspects of auditioning, including: song choice, music preparation, trends in pictures and resumes and overall presentation of audition.
    • • Opportunity to observe 12 actors who will audition with a song or monologue and then receive feedback from Dave. Students will get to hear the comments and assessment of each audition.

“This is a great chance to be able to learn what a Broadway Director is looking for in an audition and to learn by hearing feedback given to 12 different actors,” says Bob Clark, HFAC Executive Director. “Many actors leave an audition not knowing how they did or why they did not get cast. This workshop provides a unique insight into the auditioning process.”

Tuition for these workshops is only $50. All students will observe and take an active part in the workshop sessions. Children under 12 must also have a parent attending the workshop. Actors can sign up for the workshops on the HFAC website at www.houstonfac.com. The workshops will be at the HFAC Garza Main Stage located at 10760 Grant Road Houston, TX 77070.
