The Greater Houston Partnership presents the State of the City with Mayor Annise Parker, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 4, 2011,  NOON TO 1:30 P.M. at the Hilton Americas-Houston | 1600 Lamar, Houston, TX 77010.

In anticipation of the inclement weather that is expected to affect the Houston area, the Greater Houston Partnership has postponed its State of the City address with Mayor Annise Parker scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4 at the Hilton Americas Hotel. A new date has been confirmed and we look forward to you joining us. The State of the City address has been rescheduled for Friday, April 15 at the Hilton Americas, 1600 Lamar from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. With forecasts predicting a mix of snow and sleet for most of the region for late Thursday and early Friday, GHP officials decided it was prudent to postpone the yearly forum in which Houston’s mayor discusses past, present and future city trends.

As the largest municipality in the region, the economic health and well being of the City of Houston is key to the growth and vitality of the area served by GHP. The State of the City will feature a who’s who of area elected officials as they gather to hear Houston Mayor Annise Parker (pictured) discuss the challenges and initiatives of the year ahead.

Join us at this pivotal hearing on the city’s outlook as presented by our city’s top elected official. Listen in on what the City of Houston projects in regional progress and how that may affect your organization and the rest of our area’s business community.

Mayor Annise D. Parker serves as the Executive Officer of the City. As the City's chief administrator and official representative, the Mayor is responsible for the general management of the City and for seeing that all laws and ordinances are enforced. Administrative duties include the appointments, with Council approval, of department heads and persons serving on advisory boards.

As Executive Officer, the Mayor administers oaths and signs all motions, resolutions and ordinances passed by City Council. The Mayor also serves a legislative function, presiding over City Council with voting privileges. The Mayor is responsible for advising Council of the City's financial condition and presents to Council an annual budget for approval.
