On Sunday, January 23, 2011 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Gary Norian and Yvonne Washington will perform a benefit concert in The Recital Room at Dowling Music, 2615 Southwest Freeway, Suite 220, Houston. This concert supports The Marthannie School which is the brainchild of a Houston educator who is an advocate for student achievement, creative learning and arts in education.

The event provides an opportunity for Houstonians who are passionate about the arts in education to come and show their support for this unique vision, learn more about the school and experience listening to great music.

The renowned recording artist, Gary Norian, is a classically trained musician who switched to jazz piano in high school. Since that time he has toured with Arista recording artists Expose, composed and produced commercial music for radio and television, and performed at hundreds of national and local music venues.

The superb vocalist, Yvonne Washington (pictured above), can be heard on the soundtrack to the Richard Gere film, Autumn in New York, 2000. She performs with the Smithsonian Orchestra when they visit Houston and she has been invited to sing at mayoral inaugurations, and memorial services of state and national dignitaries.

Gary and Yvonne will perform selections from their brand new CD, Trust in Me, which will be released on March 12th this year and performed later at The Hobby Center in Zilkha Hall.

Young jazz artist, Reshard Baham, will open for Gary and Yvonne with his original compositions for which he has won 1st place in the Acto-So Competitions.
