    Celebrate the arts of India - Special Family Programs at the MFAH

    Celebrate the arts of India at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston! SPECIAL FAMILY PROGRAMS AT THE MFAH THIS WEEKEND!  Sunday, January 23, from 1pm to 4pm.

    Join us for a celebration of the arts of India with music, sketching, storybooks, art-making, and a special appearance by Author/Illustrator Sanjay Patel.

    Celebrate the arts of India at the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston! SPECIAL FAMILY PROGRAMS AT THE MFAH THIS WEEKEND!  Sunday, January 23, from 1pm to 4pm.

    Join us for a celebration of the arts of India with music, sketching, storybooks, art-making, and a special appearance by Author/Illustrator Sanjay Patel.

    Music and Books!

    Family Concert: Sitar Performance, 2:00 — 2:30 p.m., Cullinan Hall, Caroline Wiess Law Building
    Aaron Ray Hermes will play the sitar, a traditional instrument from India, at this 30-minute family-friendly performance.

    Join us for an Artist´s Talk

    Sanjay Patel on Ramayana: Divine Loophole, 3:00 p.m., Brown Auditorium Theater, Caroline Wiess Law Building
    Sanjay Patel, an animator and storyboard artist at Pixar Animation Studios, will speak about his newest book, Ramayana: Divine Loophole, (pictured) which tells the adventure story of Rama and his quest to rescue his wife Sita from a demon king. A reception and book signing sponsored by Friends of Asian Art at the MFAH follows.

    Sketch your own works of art in the museum galleries.  Sketching and Stories!
    Join us in the Family Zone in the Arts of India Gallery, 106M, Caroline Wiess Law Building. Spend some time with our friendly family educators—sit on a pillow and read, sketch a work of art, and get involved in an investigation of a work of art.

    • Sketching in the Galleries, 1:00 — 4:00 p.m.
    • Sunday Storytime: One Grain of Rice: A Mathematical Folktale by Demi, 1:30 — 2:00 p.m.
    • Gallery Investigations: Exploring Contemporary Art from India, 2:00 — 4:00 p.m.

    Art Studio Project!

    Join us in the Studio, Lower Level, Audrey Jones Beck Building. Art-making projects for families are inspired by original works of art on display in each week´s Family Zone gallery. Today, create your own shiny mixed media art project.

    Creation Station: Art from the Everyday, 1:00 — 4:00 p.m.
    Create your own work of art at the MFAH every Sunday.

    All programs are free with general admission. Museum members always receive free admission.

    Parking:

    Museum Parking Garage

    Located directly east of the Beck and Law buildings, the MFAH Visitors Center features a four-story covered parking garage.

    The easy-to-find parking entrance is on Binz, marked by a large, yellow arrow.

    You're always protected from the elements when you park your car in the Museum Garage. From there, you can go to the Visitors Center lobby and find a ticketing desk and up-to-the minute museum information.

    As an added convenience, you can enter the Beck and Law buildings from the Visitors Center through security-monitored, climate-controlled tunnels connecting all three buildings.
