Earthen Vessels, The Sandra Organ Dance Company is pleased to present the 13th Annual Black History Month Concert:  Luck Of The Draw.

This musical and visual history lesson will feature the music of Scott Joplin and Billy Taylor. It will also explore games of chance and dances inspired by the artwork of William Johnson and John Biggers. Luck of The Draw runs February 18-20, 25-27, 2011 at Barnevelder Movement Arts Complex, 2201 Preston, Houston, Texas 77003.

New pieces debuting during this year’s production include “Dominoes,” a dance based loosely on the popular table game and “Delight Songs,” inspired by the writings of children. Look for a reprisal of “Between Us,” duets and a quartet that delineate the grooves of Harry Connick, Jr.

Audiences will be captivated by “Rock, Paper, Scissors (RPS),” an explosive arrangement Sandra Organ choreographed with two Houston hip-hop dancers. RPS includes an original score by The University of Houston’s Moore Music School Contemporary composer Professor Rob Smith.

To purchase tickets for Luck Of The Draw, go www.organdance.org or call 713-225-0677.  Student and Senior matinees available Monday – Thursday, February 21-24 at 10:15 and noon by reservation only. Call 713-225-0677 by February 1, 2011 for weekday matinee ticket information.
