    Apollo Chamber Players presents Bach, Beethoven, & Brahms Bring the Funk & Folk, Saturday, March 19th, 2011 at 8:00pm, in Hobby Center - Zilkha Hall.

    Join the Apollo Chamber Players for an evening of music by the Germanic heavyweights of the Baroque, Classical and Romantic eras. The program will feature selections from JS Back’s dance-infused E Major Partita, Beethoven’s captivating Violin Sonata No. 10 in G Major, and Brahms’ thrilling and impassioned Piano Quartet in C Minor.

    While focusing on the folk-based inspiration imbued in each of these works, we will also highlight the unique veneration each of these towering composers possessed for one another.

    Also highlighting the program will be the premiere of a set of German/Bavarian folk melodies arranged for strings.

    Performers include Artistic Director and violinist Matthew Detrick, violinist and Co-Founder Timothy Peters, violist Zachary Carrettin, cellist Matthew Dudzik, and pianist Neal Kurz.

    Partita No. 3 in E Major (selections) JS Bach
    Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 10 in G Major L. Beethoven

    Intermission

    Traditional German/Bavarian Folk Melodies M. Detrick
    Piano Quartet in C Minor, Op. 60 J. Brahms

    Since its inception in 2008, The Apollo Chamber Players has gained distinction through exciting, original, and eclectic performances in the greater Houston area, entertaining audiences at museums, churches, private homes, universities, and concert halls. Hailed as "multi-faceted artists with a dynamic musical vision for the future", The Apollo Chamber Players concert programming reflects the ethnic diversity of classical composers and the unique folk sounds and styles imbued in their music.

    The cultural melting pot that is the city of Houston provides a perfect palate with which to showcase the unique musical folk elements in the cultures of the globe.

    Parking:

    The Hobby Center parking garage is located directly behind the complex with easy access from both Rusk and Walker streets. This 7-level, above-ground, 800-car garage offers self-parking ease for patrons and visitors alike. Event parking is an affordable $6 per vehicle. Valet service is provided during performances and in conjunction with Artista operating hours in front of the Hobby Center on Bagby Street, for $15 per vehicle between Rusk and Walker.
