Wind Water Gallery presents its annual Chinese New Year Celebration - The Year of the Rabbit, Friday and Saturday, February 11 and 12, at Wind Water Gallery, 548 West 19th St.

The Heights-based gallery has hosted this event for the past nine years, and will continue the tradition this year.  This is one of the largest Chinese New Year celebrations held in Houston, with more than 1000 expected to attend the two-day event. The event begins at 6pm Friday with live traditional Chinese music by students from the Changlu Wu School of Music.  They will be playing traditional Chinese instruments, including the pi pa, gu zheng, er hu and flute.

At 7pm, there will be a performance of the traditional Chinese lion dance followed by a kung fu exhibition by the Shao Lin Temple of Houston.  The festivities will continue until 10pm with more traditional Chinese music.

Saturday's events will begin at 10am with live music, followed with another performance of the lion dance, kung fu and tai chi demonstrations, traditional Chinese meditation and exercise. The event concludes about 10pm with live music performances.

All events are free and open to the public.
