Tap stars shuffle into Houston for the Space City Tap Fest 2011! Dedicated to continuing tap education in the Houston area, Texas New Tap Productions (TNT) will host the second annual Space City Tap Festival, March 4th-6th, 2011. The festival will bring professional tap dancers and instructors from all over the country including Derick Grant, Joseph Webb (pictured at left), Chloe Arnold, Acia Gray, Maud Arnold, Matthew Shields and many more.

Last year, the festival welcomed more than one hundred participants from all over Texas. Both dance instructors and their students alike who attended were exposed to traditional tap choreography, as well as participating in a funky Tap Jam that got everyone on their feet. As was envisioned, the first annual tap fest established a sense of community among Houston hoofers while uniting local dancers with national and international stars.

The faculty of the second annual Space City Tap Fest features tap legends Derick Grant and Joseph Webb, both featured dancers in the Tony Award-winning musical Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funk. Derick Grant is the the recipient of the Princess Grace Award for Upcoming Young Artists as well as The Helen Hayes Award (Washington D.C.) for Outstanding featured Actor for his role in Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk. All of the tap fest’s faculty members tour the world annually performing and teaching at numerous tap festivals and dance conventions, and are eager to share their tap expertise with the Houston community.

The festival begins Friday, March 4th with a meet & greet and culminates in a faculty and student concert accompanied by a live jazz band at the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Bayou Theatre on Sunday March 6th, at 5:30pm. Come and be part of this exciting event!
