Families and kids of all ages are invited to The Grand Kids Festival’s inaugural Party With The Animals on Friday April 1, 2011 from 6pm – 9pm. Held in historic downtown Galveston at the corner of 21st and Postoffice Streets, this pre-festival party will be an evening to remember!

A new event planned to enhance and expand The Grand Kids Festival, admission to “Party With The Animals” will include dancing, free face painting and a bounce house for the younger party-goers, two free beverages of choice (beer, wine, soft drinks and water), and a sneak preview of the exotic animal petting zoo to be featured at The Grand Kids Festival on Saturday, April 2, 2011 from 10am-5pm. A portion of the proceeds from the “Party With The Animals” event will benefit The Galveston Island Humane Society.

Tickets to Friday’s “Party With The Animals” event are $10.00 per person and are available now at The Grand’s box office in Galveston, or online at www.thegrand.com.

The Grand Kids Festival was created as a “friend-raiser” for The Grand 1894 Opera House and its children’s programming. Now in its 16th year, the festival was designed as an avenue to introduce children and families to the arts. The festival will feature six entertainment areas, three blocks of activity and vendor booths as well as the petting zoo, a rock wall, inflatable attractions, a bubble pond, chalk art and more.

Sponsors for the 2011 festival (to date) include: The McGovern Foundation, Jamail Galveston Foundation, Dow Chemical Company -Union Carbide Corporation, Yaga’s Children’s Fund, The Permanent Endowment Fund of Moody Memorial First United Methodist Church, Frost Banking-Investments-Insurance and Center Point Energy as well as many friends of the festival and in-kind donors.

Saturday festival admission is $5.00 for adults; $3.00 for children; free for children 4 years and younger. Half-price advance festival tickets (family four-pack for only $8.00) are available at The Grand’s box office. Full-price tickets may be purchased at the festival gates. The Grand is located at 2020 Postoffice Street in historic downtown Galveston.
