Discovery Green and Da Camera of Houston present Da Camera JAM at Discovery Green, Thursdays in April, at 6:30 pm.

Celebrate Jazz in Houston, part of The Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History 10th Anniversary of Jazz Appreciation Month (JAM) . The new series is organized by Discovery Green and Da Camera of Houston with guest artistic advisor Robert “Doc” Morgan, a retired jazz professor from Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) who has taught some of today’s great jazz performers. Morgan was honored by his former students at Discovery Green’s very first concert on March 1, 2008 and more recently at a two-night engagement at New York City’s TriBeca Y featuring Houston jazz stars, which received great acclaim in the New York Times.

The new jazz series, Da Camera JAM at Discovery Green, will feature jazz vocalists and musicians from the Greater Houston area and was made possible by a grant from the Kinder Foundation.

“Discovery Green and our partners are proud to help draw attention to Jazz Appreciation Month, and the heritage and history of jazz in Houston with our new jazz concert series,” Susanne Theis, programming director of Discovery Green, said. “We encourage all Houstonians to celebrate jazz this April at Discovery Green!”

The free concerts will occur on Thursdays in April at 6:30 PM on the Anheuser-Busch Stage and Fondren Performance Space. Concerts may be affected by rain—check for weather updates on discoverygreen.com. Concessions are also available at The Lake House.
