Free Press Houston and Pegstar.net Presents are obscenely proud to announce another unparalleled year of incredible music and happy, fun times with Free Press Summer Fest 2011. Festival attendees, journalists, and the organizers all agree that last year's event was a raging success. Even our friends over at the Houston Press thought so, because they gave our little festival the Best Music Festival of 2010 award. Thanks, guys!

Free Press Summer Fest is held Saturday and Sunday, June 4 & 5 at Houston’s Eleanor Tinsley Park, located within the beautiful rolling hills of the greater Buffalo Bayou Park. Situated on the very outskirts of downtown, Tinsley Park marries the very best of city and natural settings with its natural grass amphitheater set on the bayou overlooking Houston’s impressive skyline

We're ecstatic to be able to bring you all another year of Free Press Summer Fest. We'd like to thank (past, present and future) the musicians, the attendees, our awesome vendors and most importantly, the City of Houston for being behind us on this incredible event. The Mayor's office has been utterly supportive and cooperative throughout this process and their help proves that Free Press Summer Fest is a collective city effort.

We have been very lucky to have some amazing artists play the last two years, but this year's festival lineup takes the cake. We're featuring a handful of notable acts such as the Grammy-nominated Weezer, Yeasayer, Cut Copy, Ween, Sharon Jones and The Dap Kings, MF Doom, Black Dahlia Murder and, of course, boat loads more. Click here for more line-up info.

But, because we love seeing you guys on the edge of your seat, we are keeping a few BIG lineup-names up our sleeve. We will announce them 'soonish.'

FPSF will host a limited access 'Dancey Pants' tent with TBA electronic artists. Our friends at Gritsy and Reprogram Music will curate this 'Dancey Pants' tent. Also, we're expanding our footprint once again to include another natural grass amphitheater. There will be plenty to see and passes will stay, and we quote, 'absurdly affordable.' Free Press Summer Fest will remain, by and the large, the most reasonably priced festival of its kind in the country. There's no excuse. You have to be there.

    Important Info:

Passes for this year will include: General Admission, Fancy Pants, the High Roller and the newly-introduced Dancey Pants. The Dancey Pants pass is a special pass for the Dancey Pants Electronic Music tent that is a swanky VIP area which will feature TBA big name electronic headliners, complimentary drink menu, and a big crowd of people who are cooler than you.

Check out www.freepresssummerfest.com  for more details. FPSF will be awarding honorariums to artists who execute large scale installations.

FPSF is dedicated to improving festival efficiency with everything from line control to water distribution. We are expanding the recycling program with help from Little Joy Recycling and the Texas Campaign for the Environment.

Every year, we partner with a local nonprofit that does great things for the city. The official Free Press Summer Fest nonprofit for 2011 is Houston Tomorrow. Check them out at - www.houstontomorrow.org.

This year's event is dedicated to iced coffee. Stay cool, stay sweet.
