McGonigel's Mucky Duck presents Impresario, Impresario!, Thursday, March 3, at 7:30pm.

Some things never change. The Moores Opera Center at the University of Houston presents their legendary version of Mozart’s backstage comedy Impresario, Impresario! The audience is treated to two versions of the same short opera in one performance. The first is a traditional interpretation with dueling divas set in the 18th century that Mozart would surely recognize, and the second is a modern take in which the “sopranos meet The Sopranos” that pits rival singers battling backstage for the spotlight at a televised singing contest with suspicious mob connections.

Sung in English with dialogue between the musical numbers, this production is a lot of high notes and a lot of fun.
