In our ongoing effort to introduce artists and audiences alike to the most daring contemporary puppetry for adults, Bobbindoctrin is proud to present its Seventh Annual Puppet Festival! This year, Bobbindoctrin company members and local artists will present new live works of puppetry, along with short films from national and international puppetry artists, distributed by Heather Henson's Handmade Puppet Dreams. Artists will use a variety of puppetry traditions, including rod, hand and shadow puppets, while exploring a wide range of emotions, including love, fear, despair and alienation!

Also, for the second time ever, Bobbindoctrin will host two Sunday matinee FESTIVAL FAMBLY DAYS, for audiences of ALL AGES. At FESTIVAL FAMBLY DAY, appropriate shows from the festival will be selected and presented with younger audiences in mind.

    LOCAL/LIVE WORKS:

Bobbindoctrin artist Katie Jackson presents two new short puppet films. In REIGN SUBTERRANEO, orphaned twins enlist their friend Bella in an endeavor to rescue the last remaining shadow from extinction. In SHRINKING SOCKS, a kitty with issues receives blunt counseling.

Local theatre giant Walt Zipprian presents his new film, SWIZZLE, about a strange and pivotal afternoon at the now-extinct Mary's Bar in Montrose.

Burgeoning puppeteer CAMELLA CLEMENTS presents BEAST BABY HOSPITAL, where wellness is wrongness!

Bobbindoctrin artists Joel Orr and Justin Dunford present TOMMY, the tale of a young Tom Waits and his impatience with childhood.

Puppeteer of nations Kevin Taylor explores concepts of cosmic doom, birth and regret through string puppetry and lights with his latest work, BAMPH.

Houston-based Paedarchy Puppets presents THE MANIA OF BONAPARTE: A ONE-SIDED EPISTOLARY ROMANCE, in which the under-confident side of Napoleon is explored in his letters to his lover Josephine.

FILMED WORKS from HANDMADE PUPPET DREAMS:

In HARKER, (pictured above) puppeteers Tony Giordano, Jason Murphy & Scott Shoemaker retell the story of vampire hunter Harker as homage to German Expressionist silent films.

In Laura Heit's FINGER PUPPETS EVERYWHERE, tiny handmade finger puppets invade reality in ten 10-second featurettes.

In Matty Sidle's UNICYCLE BABY GUY, a poor little creature desires to make friends with the galaxy's other creatures, only to get repeatedly flattened.

In Simon A. Brown's PROJECT HUXLEY, a monkey imprisoned in a lab, forced to take part in a "Monkey typing Shakespeare" experiment by a sadistic lab assistant. Secretly, he harbors dreams of playing Hamlet, but can he escape from his tormentors and embrace his theatrical dreams?

In Kate Artibee's THE TEA PARTY, a group of friends gather at the edge of the woods for afternoon tea. Chaos ensues when baby-cat arrives without the cake he promised.

Performed in epic toy theater style, using paper puppets and sets, Sean Meredith's DANTE'S INFERNO is a satirical update of the classic tour of Hell. Its venue is the familiar places of modern civilization: mini malls, airports, gated communities, used car lots, and the U.S. capitol.

In Thomas Sontag and Alex Moulton's HOT IN HERE, a puppet song and dance/bump and grind is created in effort to get everybody hot and bothered and under the sheets pronto-a puppet Spanish fly!

Plus more films from Handmade Puppet Dreams Volume II.
