The Foundation for Modern Music and the Rothko Chapel present Music for Peace: ‘Peace in Many Languages,’ Friday, March 11 at 7pm. Admission is free.

Music for Peace: ‘Peace in Many Languages’ explores the universal concept of peace with a global musical view that includes works from Africa, Europe, the Americas and other regions of the world. Instrumental, vocal, saetas (flamenco 'peaceful/religious' music), and dance highlight this wonderful evening of music from around the world with works by composers including Shostakovich, Lutoslawski, Lavista, Warwick, and others.

Celebrating a very special occasion, FMM presents the 4th installment in the Music for Peace Series: Peace in Many Languages and joining Rothko Chapel’s 40th Anniversary events, FMM expands on this universal subject. A special feature of the program will include songs from Houstonians that have found peace in adverse situations such as cancer, many in attendance that day.

To complement this theme, the twenty plus multinational cast includes: Anne Leek (oboe); Gabriel Bata (percussion and vocals); Alison Greene (soprano); Cassandra White (soprano); Patricia Rabaza (mezzo-soprano); Paul Boyd (piano); Solero Flamenco: Irma La Paloma (cante) and Jeremías García (toque); Raúl Orlando Edwards (baritone/dancer); Jason Oby (founder/director) of Heritage of Zion Singers; Mary Carol Warwick (composer); Chris Howard (percussion); Marcia Sterling (violin); Julia Fox (soprano); and Dan Strba (viola).
