Mildred’s Umbrella Theater Company is proud to present the world premier of Under the Big, Dark Sky, by John Harvey. Directed by Trish Rigdon, this world premiere will run April 21-30, 2011 at Barnevelder Movement Arts Complex. A live, original music score by Andy McWilliams will be featured, as well as the talents of two up-and-coming designers from the University of Houston Graduate Theatre program.

In a small seaside town, a carnival arrives with a three-headed barking dog that predicts the future, a woman who flays herself alive and a bodiless boy who recites the poetry of John Keats. Meanwhile, deep in a basement, a man of deeply-felt religious belief grafts corpses onto butterworts, corkscrews and monkey cups.

Will he be able to re-animate the dead through the sweet nectar of chlorophyll?

And what is in the box, hidden deep in a trunk, in the carney barker’s tent? Why does it cast a green glow?

On days when there are Astros games or other big events, parking on the street outside of the theater is often prohibited (and you will be towed). There are the $5 lots you can use or you'll have to walk a lot further to get free or cheaper parking.
