This is the first independent video documentary to delve into the work of the renegade 1970s art/architecture collective Ant Farm, best known for its iconic land-art piece Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. The Ant Farmers—radical architects, video pioneers, and mordantly funny cultural commentators—created a body of deeply subversive work that questioned everything by posing a set of creative and comedic alternatives.

In addition to the MFAH screenings May 24–27, a free screening with filmmakers in attendance is offered Sunday evening, May 22, at Discovery Green (1500 McKinney, 713.400.7336). Presented in collaboration with Aurora Picture Show and the American Association of Museums.

    Laura Harrison (Producer/Director/Editor)
After working in France for eight years, primarily as a picture and sound editor on French feature films, Laura Harrison returned to the U.S. to complete a master's degree in documentary film production at Stanford University. She has been making documentary films and videos about a diverse range of subjects ever since.

Prior projects as producer/director/editor include Thurmond, W. Va. (Silver Apple at NEMN 1996, Director’s Choice at Black Maria 1996), and Secret People (Silver Medal for Best Feature Documentary, SXSW Film Festival 1999), a one-hour documentary about leprosy in America that was broadcast on PBS. Most recently, she co-executive-produced Voting in America, a compilation of nine short films about why Americans don’t vote, also broadcast on PBS.

    Beth Federici (Producer/Director)
Beth Federici is an independent filmmaker, educator, and media activist. Most recently she co-directed/produced the feature-length documentary Neither Here Nor There, which documents a Bosnian refugee family making Missouri their new home while struggling to come to terms with the past they left in Srebrenica.

Federici was awarded three gold Telly awards while producing/editing for the Columbia Channel in Columbia, Missouri, as well as a Merit Finalist award from the WorldFest Houston film festival for her documentary Bauhaus Gotham. She earned a master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2007 and currently works as a freelance producer/editor New York City.
