Katy Visual and Performing Arts Center (KVPAC) presents A Tree for All Seasons, work by dynamic Indian artist Varsha Tyagi  on display in the KVPAC gallery.

The Gallery at Katy Visual & Performing Arts Center is in bloom this entire month with the contemporary and whimsical landscape art collection of Varsha Tyagi. Both intricit and charming, these pieces were created in traditional media of oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastels.

"My style of painting reflects a mix of creative and figurative abstract," says Varsha.

Her current collection is called Trees.

Varsha was born in 1979 in Ghaziabad, an industrial city in Uttar Pradesh, India. She went to high school in Ghaziabad and senior secondary high school in Sikandrabad in Andra Pradesh. Varsha attended college at Shipa Bharti, the Institute of Fine Art & Crafts affiliated with Rajasthan University. This was the first professional art tutoring she had ever experienced. Here she got an opportunity to see and examine the world’s most beautiful original miniature paintings of various Rajasthan schools and as well as Deccan and Kangra.

"Though every day emotions have left a deep impression on my works, I was most influenced and inspired by Indian Miniature paintings," Varsha explains. "I love the colorful vibrations and romantic themes."

Her degree was further pursued in the southern City of Bangalore. During this time she was also connected to social awareness programs like People for Animals and AIDS awareness for youth. She completed a degree of bachelors of Fine arts from Bangalore University, specializing in painting, in 2001.

Varsha came to America in 2002 after getting married to Raghu Kashyapa. She had been part of the Bay Area Artist Association in California, where she stayed for three years. Now Varsha and her husband live in Katy, with their three beautiful daughters. Varsha is also associated with Katy ArtReach.

Trees will be on display at KVPAC until March 31st during normal business hours (8:30am -7:00pm) and pieces in the collection are for sale.
