SPECIAL EVENTS

Gallery 1724, Contemporary Art Salon presents a Hair Washing Benefit for Japan, this Sunday, March 20 from 10am to 6pm.

Performance artist Emily Sloan will recreate her hair washing performance with all proceeds going to the Red Cross. This is a "drop-in" event. Both participants and observers are welcome.

About Emily Sloan: Internationally unknown artist, Emily Sloan creates art inspired by transitions, healing, celebrations, rituals, longings, and social contexts. In January of 2011, she hosted the Funeral Party for the Living at 14 Pews, and in March of 2011 “NAP Church: Daylight Saving Time Travel” at Art League Houston. She is presently organizing “TX BI” to take place in her studio at Box 13 ArtSpace this April-May; and the “Southern Naptist Convention” to take place June 12, 2011 and “Free Marriage” to take place on June 18, both at 14 Pews in Houston, Texas.
