Rice University Shepherd School of Music presents the Chamber Music Festival: Spotlight on Brahms and His Circle. Saturday, April 9, 10am to 10pm.  Duncan Recital Hall - Alice Pratt Brown Hall.

A date to clearly mark on your calendars! This semester's edition of the chamber music festival, "Brahms and his Circle," will showcase most of Brahms' major chamber music works. We will have all the piano trios, the piano quartets, and the piano quintet plus the string quartets of Op. 51, both viola quintets, the clarinet trio and quintet and the horn trio with the alto/viola songs.

Works by members of his "circle" will feature the Schumann Piano Quintet, the Dvorak "American" Quartet and Terzetto, plus the Schubert "Trout" Quintet and works by Loeffler, Reger, Schulhoff, Britten and Mozart. I can't imagine a more rich banquet of chamber music for a day, so bring your bright Viennese sensibilities to Duncan Recital Hall and enjoy the fruits of the labors of our talented Shepherd School students (under the guidance of our celebrated faculty!).
