B L A C K I E first found fame by assembling his own sound system. The system is rumored to consist of over twenty speakers and is estimated to be rated at more than 5,000 watts. Often set up on the floors of nightclubs, his massive sound system coupled with his energetic performances caused B L A C K I E to become legendary in Houston.

The rapper’s sound has been described as “equal parts fucked-up electronics, distorted pop-cult samples, guitar feedback, video game noise, and angry-as-hell street flow”. He calls it “U.S. Grime”, and it has left several critics dumbfounded.

B L A C K I E’s unique approach to rap has made him a fan and college-radio favorite.
