With Ms. Hogg’s beautiful house as a backdrop, the Houston Brass Band will be performing at Bayou Bend Family Day on Sunday, April 17, at 3:00 pm. We will celebrate the American author, with music such as Stephen Foster’s Jeanie with the Light Brown Hair and George Gershwin’s Summertime. We will also be performing a piece of music that has not been heard in over 100 years: The Houston Light Guard March, composed by Mrs. C.A. Bujac, F.W. Schmidt, and C. Grunewald in 1896. This march honors the Houston Light Guard, which has been in existence since 1873.

All are welcome to join us at this special occasion, and admission to the Bayou Bend Collection is free.
