The San Jacinto College South performing arts company (PAC) will perform its annual Spring Dance Concert, “Crossroads,” in early May.

The show’s highlighted performances include, “White Lies,” choreographed by dance faculty member, Diane Cahill Bedford, and “Whispers from a Blank Page,” choreographed by student Ashley Cook. Both dances represented San Jacinto College South at the American College Dance Festival held recently at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. “Ditty,” a humorous piece, has been restaged by Dr. Patty Haselbarth, lead faculty for dance and choreographed by guest choreographer, Lori Katterhenry, chair of dance at Montclair State University in Montclair, New Jersey. Music for some of this year’s pieces includes selections from Ludovico Einaudi, Howard Shore, The Vitamin String Quartet, and Zoe Keating.

“This year’s concert will be an emotional journey for me and for many of the performers,” said Dr. Haselbarth. “Quite a few of the dancers who have been with the program for several years will be transferring to four-year institutions to complete a bachelor’s degree. These dancers are approaching a ‘crossroad’ in their lives, thus the title of the concert, ‘Crossroads,’ to reflects this new chapter in their lives.”

“Crossroads” runs May 5 and 6 with both shows starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Marie Spence Flickinger Fine Arts Building on the South campus, located at 13735 Beamer Road in Houston. Admission is $3.00.
