The Rothko Chapel and Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston present a Conversation with Imam Rauf at the Rothko Chapel, a community dialogue with Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf (pictured)  Monday, May 9 at 7pm.

Houston is home to many different organizations and initiatives dedicated to ensuring that our city's diverse constituents know and care for one another. Our city’s arts and cultural institutions are a critical part of that effort. Last year Imam Feisal Rauf was at the center of the controversy over Cordoba House, a community center that was also to include a place of worship for Muslims located a few blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks against the World Trade Center. Though he has since stepped down, Imam Rauf was then the director of that project. He is currently on a cross country "listening tour" as part of his ongoing efforts to improve understanding and build trust among people of all cultures and faith traditions.

This gathering is specifically designed for those committed to dialogue and community building to hear directly from Imam Rauf about his experience and to explore together the fundamental questions this controversy raised about religious freedom, the limits of tolerance and the challenge of religious pluralism, particularly as they play out here in Houston.

Please feel free to invite friends and colleagues who share your commitment to relationship building across cultural and religious lines.

Please RSVP to Tom Ricker at tom@rothkochapel.org.
