    Brazos Bend State Park Cinco de Mayo

    Brazos Bend State Park will host a Cinco de Mayo special event on Saturday, May 7, 2011. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the slice of Americana that Cinco de Mayo represents in a beautiful natural environment.

    Brazos Bend State Park will host a Cinco de Mayo special event on Saturday, May 7, 2011. The purpose of the event is to celebrate the slice of Americana that Cinco de Mayo represents in a beautiful natural environment.

    The “Cinco de Mayo” event will consist of a day of fun and engaging event activities, including Mexican dancing demonstrations, bilingual storytelling, Mexican bingo, a tortilla making demonstration and a flower making activity. In addition, park naturalists will be providing a full slate of weekend interpretive programs, ranging from guided nature hikes to alligator and snake programs.

    Rosa Rita’s Mexican Restaurant of Needville will be operating a food concession for the day. In the spirit of Cinco de Mayo, they will be serving an assortment of foods to event participants and park visitors alike.

    Brazos Bend State Park is a 5,000-acre parcel of public land managed by Texas Parks & Wildlife Department to conserve natural and cultural resources, provide recreational and educational opportunities, and foster an understanding of the diversity of Texas' lands and heritage for all generations.

    Parking:

    Directions: The park is approximately a one-hour drive from downtown Houston. Take Highway 59 South to the Crabb River Road exit. You may also take State Highway 288 south to FM 1462 West. Follow FM 1462 to FM 762 south. From the south follow State Highway 288 North to the FM 1462 exit or take State Highway 36 to FM 1462 East. All routes are marked with brown signs to guide you.
