Everywhere that Andrea Marie goes, the Texas music scene gets a little cheerier, a little twangier, and a little sweeter. The Hill Country resident has been one of the busiest young artists in the Austin area since the 2006 release of her debut CD, Someday, with gigs at such local landmarks as Poodie’s Hilltop in Spicewood, Riley’s Tavern in New Braunfels, and downtown Austin favorites including Momo’s, the Saxon Pub, and Hills Café. Often billed as “Andrea Marie & the Magnolia Band”, her full-band shows not only bring her originals to life but also charm listeners with covers of everyone from Merle Haggard to Fleetwood Mac.

It not surprising that audiences are warming to her blend of classic country with folk, jazz, and nostalgic pop influences; Andrea has been immersed since childhood in the warm, dusty, boundary-pushing Willie Nelson vibe that the region’s cowboys, hippies, college kids, and regular working folks have loved for generations. Echoes of vocalists both classic (Emmylou Harris, Patsy Cline) and recent (Norah Jones, Sheryl Crow) find their way into “Magnolia Music”, and Andrea Marie has been one of only a handful of female artists breaking through to the Texas Country scene in recent years.

So far her successes have included landing #1 songs on Internet stations like RadioFreeTexas (where several of her performances have been broadcast live), hosting and booking all-day festivals at the legendary Poodie’s Hilltop Icehouse, performing live on local morning TV, being the first female artist signed to Hilltop Entertainment, and landing opening gigs for the likes of Ray Wylie Hubbard, Bob Schneider, and the Bellamy Brothers. She also frequently gives the band the night off and joins up with lead guitarist John Fink or like-minded songwriters from the regional scene for acoustic shows, making for a busy schedule that often adds up to 20+ shows a month.
