The Houston Symphony, and Miller Outdoor Theatre present Houston Symphony POPS Featuring Fidelity Investments Young Artists Competition Winners, Wednesday, June 29, at 8:30pm.

Following twenty-four live auditions on March 5th at Jones Hall, seven students from the greater Houston area, comprised of three vocalists, a cellist, a flutist and a pianist, have been named winners of the competition. This year, 91 students from Houston-area public schools applied to the 2011 Fidelity Young Artist Competition for a chance to perform with the Houston Symphony during a free public concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre. The five winning musical acts, including soloists and small ensembles, represent musical styles that range from country music to opera, classical and jazz . In anticipation of their big night, the student musicians will work directly with musicians of the Houston Symphony who will help them prepare for their performances.
