Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts - UH and The Joanna Gallery present Graphic Content: Original Comic Book Storytelling Exhibition, Friday, May 13, 7PM, at  The Joanna Gallery, 1401 Branard.

Mat Johnson’s Graphic Novel course, offered every other Spring through the University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts and the Creative Writing Program, is an introduction and exploration of modern graphic storytelling including critical examination and workshops of original creative work within the form. With a focus on the medium and tools of graphic storytelling, its recurring themes and genres, and their relationship with modern storytelling, students have an opportunity to work across disciplinary lines in an art form that is establishing itself as an important new genre.

The results of this collaboration will be on display for one night only with presentations by Jill Hogno with Ashley Murray, Shane Patrick Boyle, Whitney Mower with Jared Snow, Andy Dimond with Cristina Tortarolo, Ashleigh Eisinger, Ted Closson, James Roberts with Mike Cavallaro, Brandon White with Joe Infurnari, Chuck Ivy and Erica Ciesielski Chaikin
