The Houston Pride Band, under the direction of Jason Stephens, will be presenting AMERICANA, the Final Concert of their 2010-2011 Season at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in Zilkha Hall located in the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts, 800 Bagby Street, Houston, TX 77002.

The evening’s program celebrates music of Americans, by Americans, and for Americans. The history of the development of American music is reflected in the music of the evening, from early folk music in "Four Shaker Songs" by eminent wind band composer, Frank Ticheli, to the vastness of the American frontier in 'The Promise of Living' from "The Tender Land" by Aaron Copland and from the swinging sounds of blues and jazz in "Louisiana Parish Sketches" by Julie Giroux, to the patriotic "Stars and Stripes Forever" by march master John Philip Sousa.

In addition, the HPB’s very own saxophone quartet, SaxWorx will perform selections from Gershwin’s "An American in Paris" and the Duke Ellington classic "Take the 'A' Train".
