    The Rothko Chapel presents the Summer Music Series. This summer, the Rothko Chapel presents a music series of four programs that recognize the integral role of music to the sacred experience and the history of the Chapel. As an art form, music speaks an international language and has the capacity to bind diverse people together through a shared experience. It can nurture interfaith understanding and has the transformative power to enlighten the mind and spirit. The programs will be held at the Rothko Chapel, 3900 Yupon Street, and are free and open to the public.

    Evening Star: Beauty Bringer, Songs of Possibility
    Divergence Vocal Theater
    Friday, June 10, 7pm

    A pairing of professional opera and classical musicians who bend the boundaries of music genres and artistic genres, Divergence Vocal Theater's Artistic Director and soprano Misha Penton, baritone Michael Walsh, and sopranos Alison Greene and Natasha Manley will perform contemporary vocal works in English accompanied by piano.

    The program will include the world premiere of a musical settings of the poetry of Amy Lowell by Dominick DiOrio, as well as the music of Elliot Cole, Dominick Argento, Aaron Copland, and Alva Henderson.

    Dominick DiOrio, DMA candidate, Yale University, one of the presenting composers, will be in attendance.

    All programs are free and open to the public. Seating is first-come, first-serve. For additional information, please call 713-524-9839.

    Parking is available along the street or in the St. Thomas Parking Garage on the corner of West Alabama and Graustark for $2.00.
